Q. How can I get a library card while the Library is closed?

The Library may be closed, but we are still here for you. Patrons in Boulder County may still apply for and obtain an Online Courtesy card! This gives you 24/7 access to our Online Libraryincluding eBooks, downloadable eAudiobooks, streaming video and more. Online cards are available to Boulder County residents who do not already have a Boulder card and are valid for 3 months.

How to apply:

  1. Complete and submit the Self-Registration form. Be sure to include your email address.
  2. You will get a auto generated 7 digit number immediately. Please IGNORE this number--staff need to update your submission to allow full access to premium collections.
  3. Within 24-48 hours you'll receive an email from staff with your updated 10 digit account number.
  4. Once you get the second email, you'll be able to sign up for services such as hoopla, Overdrive, Kanopy, etc.

For questions, please email ask@boulderlibrary.org or call us during our phased re-opening hours.
