Is Discovery Education Techbook available to patrons? This is an online Biology, Earth & Space, Chemistry, and Physics High School Science Textbook.
If not, is there an online middle school/high school science curriculum online available via the library? Thanks so much.

Answer

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. We do not have access to Discovery Education Techbook, which looks to me to be available to educators only at pricing per student. It doesn't appear to be a database subscription for libraries.

We do have some alternatives that might be helpful to you, although they are not strictly curriculum resources.

We have online subscriptions to the following databases, some of which are aligned to Common Core and curriculum standards

1. WorldBook Info:

If you drill down into the Science subject, you'll notice on the right that it aligns to Colorado curriculum standards.

You'll notice also there is a link for educators to lesson plans.

2. National Geographic Kids and Topic Guides.

This resource contains both magazine and book content from National Geographic, and they also have an educator's page with links to common core standards.  And several topic guides on various science subjects

3. Science Reference Center:

This is primarily an article and reference database devoted to science subjects.

4. Student Research Center.

This interface searches many of our middle and high school databases, and you can do an advanced search to limit to specific science topics.

5. Brainfuse HelpNow: Online tutoring 2 -11 p.m. daily.

This also has many skill building resources related to science.

I hope these will give you some of what you need. Please let us know if you have any questions about these resources, or if we can help you further in any way.

Best,
Gina
