Year ago BPL subscribed to Safari, a technical ebook service from O'Reilly media. Do we still?
Thanks for your inquiry about Safari ebooks. We did drop that subscription a year or two ago, it did not get much use, and the interface was somewhat wanting. It also did not allow downloads or chapter downloads like our other eCollections, but titles must be read entirely online, nor was it very mobile friendly.
Since you are aware of and use ebrary, I wanted to let you know of several different services and resources at your disposal as a Boulder Library card holder:
If you are interested in certain ebook titles, you can suggest we purchase these for Overdrive collection. If they are available and a good fit, we are likely to add them to that ebook collection. We can also of course get many titles through interlibrary loan both regionally and nationally. You can fill out what we call "material requests" when signed in to your library account.
If you are interested in learning technical/software applications, we have Lynda.com and Gale Courses available. These differ in their instruction type--Lynda.com being video instruction and more self-serve, while Gale Courses is courseware with an online instructor over a six week period, and includes quizzes and exams.
Please check out Lynda.com and Gale Courses from this link:
Thanks very much for your question.
